NetHack, now well over a quarter century old, is a text-based game that was created shortly after the sapient Internet drunkenly tried to access simultaneously the works of Douglas Adams and those of Gary Gygax . ASCII text. There is no "look north," there is no "xyzzy," and there is certainly no "go dennis." There is no 'save and reload' function, it is definitely not fair, and, no matter the outcome, it always ends with your possessions being identified.
It is a koan for life.
It even has a wiki.
