Tired of incompetent police forces? Eugene isn't!
Walking over to Ryan's the other day, after class, I was stopped in the street by a bitchy and insistent policewoman.
As I was frantically thinking how I could have possibly broken the law in the last few blocks, she asked me if I was "Amber" and then demanded to see some sort of identification. Knowing that I am in fact not "Amber," and wishing to avoid any trouble, I got out my driver's license. She looked at it for about a minute, handed it back, and then distractedly wandered off. I was left feeling weirdly violated and, well, fucking pissed off...
Why was I stopped? Who knows--maybe I fit the profile of one of Eugene's many tweeked-out criminals. Or maybe I seemed suspicious--after all, I do have a few overdue library books.
I am really upset that some bitch with a badge could demand to see my "papers," like she was some Gestapo officer or something. This is AMERICA, you freedom-hater. If I am not mistaken, the Patriot Act didn't take away ALL of our rights. Right?
So next time you are out and about and some Nazi disguised as a city police officer pulls you aside, think twice before you let him/her bully you around...unless, of course, you are in fact Amber. In that case, you won't have time to think, as they will probably just shoot you...
