Olympic Fever Breaks

Finally, after two weeks of skiing and skating, sledding and snowboarding, the 2006 Olympic games have come to an end. As usual, I was glued to NBC for a while (there's something about that ice-dancing that sucks me in). But that's neither here nor there; what I'm really interested in is the medal break-down:

Germany: 29 total, 11 gold
USA: 25 total, 9 gold
Canada: 24 total, 7 gold
Austria: 23 total, 9 gold
Russia: 22 total, 8 gold
Norway: 19 total, 2 gold

And the list goes on...What I find it rather amusing, I must say, is that the Germans finally won!

American athletes performed well, nonetheless, though many made mistakes which disappointed both their fans and their sponsors (sorry, Bode).

In the end, I enjoyed the Olympics not only for the sports but also for the cheesy human-interest stories narrated by Bob Costas...moreso than the athletes, he symbolizes the Olympic spirit...

See you in Beijing, Bob!
