While I am not sure that this isn't all some sort of crazy Vicodin-induced political wet-dream, I am going to press my luck and go ahead and call Virginia for the Democrats, which means that we have hit an amazing trifecta here: the house, the senate, and no more Rummy!

While it is true that I will kind of miss the old bastard, I really hope the world realizes what an awesome day this is, and also just how much I sincerely wish to say thank you to everyone who voted yesterday. In Oregon we shut down the ballot measure for parental notification of abortions, retained both our Democratic governor as well as a certain Democratic congresswoman.

There is a generation of teenagers (a portion of whom might even have cast their first ballots yesterday) who can't even remember what a government can be like when it is not ruled by fear. The next two years will be enlightening.

Who knows, we might even get habeas corpus back.
