...That the reason the Legend of Zelda instruction manual, for the original NES, contains a mention that a certain monster (Pols Voice, as he was called), disliked loud noises.
If you do, you probably got goose-bumps at the mention of his name. Rather spooky at the time that a giant, triangle-shaped set of bunny ears sould be the voice of some poor being named Pol. But do you remember that neither bombs nor the flute had any special effect on him?
Unless you had classmates named Takeshi, Mifune, and Junichiro, you probably never understood why. That's because we famicom-less gaijin lacked a critical controller component: the built-in microphone. Japanese children shouted "Hai!" into their controllers and these little bunny ears just exploded.
Even now, some twenty years later, this seems like a pretty cool idea.
