"I wanted to hang about to see if the fat bloke was going to get in a kayak, but Suzanne said we best head back."

The Ricky Gervais Show is a podcast with many such words of wisdom from former XFM producer Karl Pilkington. Also joined by Stephen Merchant (co-writer with Gervais of the Office and Extras), the show has broken records in this new world of podcasting.

Pilkington, who is either a brilliant hoax or a simply a round-headed mank with mild Asperger's Syndrome, provides more than enough fodder to keep Gervais and Merchant busy mocking him for each half-hour installment. Some features of note are Karl's Diary, Monkey News, and Rockbusters.

But to be honest, there is nothing more hilarious than the ongoing discussion about animals that Gervais constantly draws Karl into. Karl's misunderstanding of a poisonous frog is especially funny.

If you're expecting a lot of Merchant and Gervais, you might be disappointed. They mostly serve to help make Karl even more hilarious. But if you're wondering what makes someone as funny as Ricky Gervais crack up, Karl more than fits the bill.

If you've got high-speed internet (or even if you don't) you should really follow the above link and download the full season of podcasts. It's five bucks for over 6 hours of comedy.
