Comfort of Strangers
About three years ago this month, there was one album in pretty heavy rotation on my iTunes. That album was Daybreaker.
Now, after a span of more than three years, Ms. Orton has graced us with another new album.
I won't lie to you, dear readers: on first listen there isn't a single track that really jumps out at me as being particularly earth-shattering (like, for example, "Don't Need A Reason"); but like that last album, what we have here is truly a great album with a very solid sound.
Despite most of the tracks ending a little more cleanly than I feel is appropriate for such a spare record, the entire album holds your attention in a very undemanding way.
Though this album may not make the cut for my medically-enhanced sing-along sessions, anyone attemtpting to get through the post-February chills without it will be making a big mistake.
