I see a darkness

Today is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, statistically, but anyone keeping up on the today's news was probably already feeling it. Between Canada's new conservative leadership (who claim they desperately want to strengthen ties with the US) and the evidence that all of Europe seemed to know that the US had been outsourcing Iraqi prisoner-torture (but did nothing), there is but one ray of light.

This story
, quite different than the image from which this website takes its name, is the story of a finicky snake, Aochan, and a hamster named Gohan-chan (lit. Little Meal) who live at the Tokyo Zoo. The snake and the rodent have, reportedly, become fast friends after the snake refused to eat the little critter. They have been said to cuddle together during sleep, the hamster sometimes climbing atop the snakes back.

If these two natural enemies can come together in friendship, how is our world so screwed up, on this Tuesday, January 24th, twenty-oh-six?

Try harder.

The snake must be renamed vegeta.
